What is your current role? I have the joy (and occasional chaos) of serving as the CEO & President of the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation (GSDC), a regional nonprofit working to grow the economy of Greater St. Cloud in Central MN.
How long have you been in your current role? Believe it or not, I'm celebrating two years this month! Time flies when you're building ecosystems, dodging spreadsheets, and loving (almost) every minute of it. :-)
What is something people may not know about you? My career actually started in an advanced manufacturing startup, and at one point I led R&D. One of the most memorable projects was helping a university team build HERO, a search and rescue robot. We designed and built the A/V system, then I had the surreal experience of training the FBI’s hostage negotiation team on how to operate and troubleshoot it in the field. I even got to visit the USMC base in Quantico, living out my dream of working with the FBI… just not quite in the way I imagined as a kid!
What is your favorite part of your position? My favorite part? Rebuilding. I used to research and solve for de-escalation and troubleshoot tech, now I troubleshoot economies! Whether it’s removing barriers, connecting dots, or rewiring ecosystems, I get to help turn gridlock into growth.
What is a hope or dream for growth within your position/company? I want my team and our partners to embrace change and remain nimble in the facing of an ever-evolving economic landscape. I want to see GSDC evolve alongside the region we serve, staying responsive to change while also helping shape what’s next. Whether it’s rethinking how we support entrepreneurs, attract talent, or build a more inclusive economy, the goal is to grow boldly, but with intention.
